By comparison, Bryanston is a fairly new suburb to Johannesburgs many suburbs and small towns. Only named as an area in 1949.
As a residential suburb Bryanston is home to a more affluent segment of the population although it is not as large a residential suburb as its neighbour Sandton.
While not very old or very big Bryanston is home to a few large corporations which have chosen this location largely because of its proximity to highways and major business hubs.
Residential suburbs interspersed with businesses and small holdings make Bryanston a rather eclectic area. The houses will vary in age and design but many will include a fireplace or even two.
